El Salvador
Where we serve
Along with our local partner, Iglesia Bautista Internacional Siloé, we serve primarily in the urban La Linea neighborhood in Soyapango and Ilopango, near the capital city of San Salvador. In English, La Linea means “the line,” in reference to abandoned railroad lines along which economically-challenged families have lived for generations. We also serve in the rural agricultural village of Jicalapa in a mountainous area near the Pacific coast, where Iglesia Bautista La Argentina has been established by Siloé missionaries and volunteers.
Who we serve
We serve children, youth, and families living in poverty. Our primary focus is on education at a kindergarten through 9th grade school on the Siloé campus, and established sponsorship programs for high school and university students. Related programs include Salvadoran missionaries, sharing of essential foods, medical & dental clinics, on- & off-campus capital improvements, elderly care, sports ministries, and micro-businesses including sewing backpacks distributed by Riverbend’s Angels Afoot program. How you can help
If you support education and humble sharing as means of healing the wounds of poverty, then you are ready to serve in El Salvador. It’s just a few hours away on an airplane. Even if travel is not an option for you, your care and kindness can be shared through prayer, general financial support of El Salvador Missions, or sponsoring a high school or university student.
Upcoming Trips
Global Blessings Co-op sponsors two (2) trips to El Salvador every year. Most trips are about a week in length and the days are filled with meaningful, hands-on, face-to-face service opportunities. You will also visit diverse parts of this beautiful country, meet its resilient people, taste its delicious food, and learn about its culture and complex history.
